AMMAN — The Queen Rania Foundation for Education and Development (QRF) recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Expedia Group aimed at improving education in Jordan and the region.
As part of the agreement, employees from Expedia Group’s Amman office will work with the QRF to help launch the “Karim and Jana-Our World” mobile application, according to a statement sent to The Jordan Times.
The app aims to promote the development of social skills in young children and increase their school readiness, while also raising parents’ awareness of their children’s socio-emotional development. The app does this through a series of stories, songs and games designed for children between the ages of three and six, the statement said.
Under the agreement, support from Expedia Group will also be granted to Madrasati’s volunteering programme “Masahati Student Clubs”, which was launched in 2008. The programme works to develop youth’s intellectual and technical skills and seeks to empower students to manage their own spaces, as well as provide a link between schools and their communities, according to the statement.
The memorandum was signed by QRF CEO Bassem Saad, and Expedia Group’s Senior Director of Corporate Social Responsibility Katherine Cheng.
During the signing, Saad emphasised the importance of capitalising on collaboration in order to address the education crisis; recognise the scale of educational challenges facing the region and the need to reimagine education collaboratively and coherently.
