AMMAN — The Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) on Sunday assured that a brand of eye drops called "EzriCare," which was recalled from the US market, is not approved by the JFDA and will not be distributed in the Kingdom.
JFDA Director General Nizar Mheidat noted that none of the manufacturing company's medical supplies is JFDA approved, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
He added that not approving the eye drops followed a US Food and Drug Administration recall of EzriCare eye drops over reports of contamination that resulted in vision loss and death. To ensure the quality and effectiveness of approved eye drops, the JFDA's regulations require having specific levels and concentrations of preservatives in the product to reduce the possibility of microbial contamination.
