AMMAN — The Friendship Association of the Blind (FAB) on Monday received a package of Braille educational equipment, provided by the government of Japan.
HRH Prince Raad, honorary president of the FAB and Japanese Ambassador to Jordan Hidenao Yanagi attended the handover ceremony, along with FAB Chairman Ahmad Louzi.
In 2017, the government of Japan extended to the FAB a grant in total of $78,515 the implementation of “The Project for Provision of Braille Education Equipment for the Blind” through the Japanese Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGP), according to a statement that was sent to The Jordan Times.
“I sincerely hope that the equipment provided under this project will be continuously utilised by the FAB and contribute to expanding the training opportunities for the visually impaired people in need; thereby improve their employability,” Yanagi stated.
Under the GGP, Japan has extended more than $10 million to 147 projects in Jordan since 1993, the statement explained.
The GGP aims to improve basic human needs at the grass-roots level through NGOs and local governments, with the objective in respect to the FAB is to enhance the association’s ability to provide vocational training to the visually impaired.
