AMMAN — Senate President Faisal Fayez on Friday discussed the major challenges facing the region with President of Hungary Janusz Ader, focusing on the Syrian crisis and the repercussions of the failure to find a solution to the Palestinian cause.
During the meeting, held in Budapest, Fayez highlighted the devastating impacts of terrorism on humanity, calling for a clear international strategy to eliminate all forms of extremism, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Fayez, who is in Budapest upon an invitation by Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary, emphasised the need for the international community to stand by Jordan to help it address economic woes arising from surrounding conflicts and political crises.
The Senate president conveyed His Majesty King Abdullah’s greetings to Ader and stressed His Majesty’s keenness on boosting bilateral relations in various fields.
For his part, President Ader commended Hungarian-Jordanian relations, which, he said, are based on mutual respect, stressing that both countries share similar views regarding various issues pertaining to humanity and global efforts to combat terrorism.
Ader also emphasised the need for EU countries to provide sufficient assistance to Jordan so it can pursue its role as a peace sponsor and cope with the burdens arising from the Syrian refugee crisis.
