AMMAN — A new Jordanian field hospital team arrived in the Gaza Strip on Monday, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. The “Gaza 57” team relieved the “Gaza 56” crew of their duties, as the departing crew returned to Jordan after completing their humanitarian mission, Petra said.
The new crew will continue providing medical services to the people of Gaza, said Col. Mohammad Qudah, commander of the Jordanian field hospital in Gaza. Director of Jordanian Field Hospital “Gaza 57” Maj. Yazan Sarayrah noted that the hospital includes all major specialties to meet the needs of Gaza residents.
The besieged coastal enclave has been under Israeli siege since June 2007. Jordan’s field hospital was established in 2009, and has since treated over 1.9 million patients.
