Fifth Arab Water Week conference kicks off at Dead Sea

AMMAN — Deputising for HRH Prince Hassan, Minister of Water and Irrigation Raed Abul Saud on Sunday inaugurated the Fifth Arab Water Week (AWW) at the King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Centre at the Dead Sea. The AWW, was organised by the Arab Countries Water Utilities Association, in partnership with Ministry of Water and Irrigation and League of Arab States’ Arab Ministerial Water Council.
The AWW conference and exhibition announced that Jordan was chosen as the headquarters of the Global Observatory for Water and Peace, an international facility aimed at promoting efforts in water for holistic peace.
The report, prepared by the Global High-Level Panel on Water and Peace, containing recommendations for the prevention of water-related conflicts and promoting water as a tool for peace, was also launched at the inauguration. The Geneva Water Hub had approached HRH Prince Hassan to preside over the observatory, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
