AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi expressed Jordan's condolences and solidarity with Turkey following the earthquake that recently hit the country, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

In a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu in Ankara on Wednesday, Safadi reiterated Jordan’s support to Turkey, under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah.

Safadi affirmed that Jordan will continue to provide relief and humanitarian aid, noting that the construction of the Jordanian military field hospital has been completed to provide all forms of health and medical support in Turkey.

In a joint press statement, Safadi highlighted the “deep-rooted” historical relations binding the two countries.

Voicing appreciation of the Turkish authorities’ efforts in searching for missing Jordanians in a collapsed building in Antakya, Safadi stressed that Turkey will be rebuilt in a timely manner.

Cavusoglu expressed appreciation of Jordan's standing by Turkey's side in this ordeal, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah, referring to His Majesty's phone call with the Turkish president, during which he offered condolences and support to Turkey.

Since the day the earthquake first hit Turkey, Jordan has been in full contact with the Turkish side, sending a search and dispatch team consisting of 75 people, a medical team of 30 people, and more than 10 tonnes of humanitarian aid, in addition to establishing the Jordanian field hospital, the Turkish minister underlined.

Turkey will continue to search for missing Jordanians trapped in the building that was destroyed by the earthquake, he added.

Holding an extensive discussion, the two ministers focused on the repercussions of the earthquake, bilateral relations and regional developments.
