AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh discussed Thursday the latest developments in war-torn Syria with a delegation from the follow-up committee for the Syrian opposition's second Cairo meeting.

According to the Jordan News Agency, Petra, the visiting delegation briefed Judeh on the committee's efforts to implement the second Cairo meeting's guidelines and roadmap concerning a political solution to the more than four years of war in Syria.

The Egyptian capital hosted the “Expanded Conference of the Syrian Opposition and National Forces" from June 8-9 which concluded in a final statement and roadmap to implement the peace solution for the Syrian war written in the Geneva I communiqué which entailed a transitional governing body with full executive powers.

During the meeting, Judeh reiterated Jordan's “unaltered stance” on the Syrian crisis, which advocates a political solution that ends the large-scale suffering of the Syrian people and safeguards the territorial integirty of their country.

Judeh also expressed hopes for a quick end of the war in Syria so that the Syrians can return home, explaining that a political solution is a prerequisite to a solution to the humanitarian crisis, which involves millions of Syrian refugees and displaced persons.

For their part, the delegates expressed thanks for Jordan's efforts to end the Syrian crisis and its humanitarian assistance to the Syrian refugees, Petra said.
