AMMAN — Spain’s Ambassador to Jordan Aránzazu Bañón Dávalos on Monday bestowed the Order of Civil Merit on Salah Jarrar, a former minister of culture, in recognition of his efforts in Andalusian literature, historical and cultural studies and his contributions to enhancing Arab-Spanish cultural and scientific ties.
In a speech during the ceremony, Dávalos praised Jarrar’s contributions and his participation in the many cultural activities of the Spanish embassy, as well as his lectures at the Instituto Cervantes (the Spanish cultural centre), the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
For his part, Jarrar said that the study of the historical relations between the Arab and Spanish nations and the search for mutual cultural and human elements are the duty of Arab and Spanish researchers.
It is the way to strengthen the bonds of cooperation and friendship between the two nations, he said, to build on solid cultural and human grounds.
