Former PM Masri conferred ‘Grand Cordon of Order of Rising Sun’ by Japan

AMMAN — Japan's Emperor Naruhito on Wednesday awarded former prime minister Taher Al Masri the “Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun”, the highest class Japanese decoration for foreigners, in recognition of his “magnificent contribution” to strengthening friendly relations between Japan and Jordan.
In a statement following the Ceremony of Imperial Conferment of Decoration, held in the Imperial Palace in Tokyo, Masri expressed his gratitude for the gesture, saying: “This honouring is not only to me personally, but for the Jordanian-Japanese relations.
” He stressed that the Kingdom is moving ahead towards furthering collaboration in all spheres with Japan. Lauding Tokyo’s supportive stance towards Amman, the former prime minister highlighted the role of Japanese projects in the Kingdom, as well as assistance that has contributed to social development, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
