AMMAN — The Kingdom’s pavilion at a food industries exhibition held in Cologne, Germany, on Monday witnessed the “active participation” of Jordanian companies, according to the Jordan Chamber of Industry.
The “ISM” exhibition — an international trade fair for confections and snacks — is “an opportunity for Jordanian companies to display their high-quality products”, the chamber said in a statement on Monday.
The Kingdom’s presence at the fair is a major step towards opening new markets for Jordanian products, the statement said.
President of the Jordan and Amman chambers of industry Fathi Jaghbir toured the fair and met with representatives of Jordanian companies participating in the exhibition.
Representative of the food industries sector of the Jordan Chamber of Industry Muhammad Jitan said that 10 Jordanian companies specialised in the manufacturing of sweets and snacks are taking part in the event, which will last for four days, according to the statement.
Jitan noted that Jordanian companies’ competencies qualify them to compete in European markets.
The food industries sector includes 15 per cent of the total number of industrial establishments operating in the Kingdom at 2,645 establishments, which provide 50,000 jobs with a registered capital of JD641 million and fixed assets of nearly JD2 billion, according to the statement.
