Gov’t directs JAEC to continue with studies on uranium exploration

AMMAN — The Council of Ministers on Tuesday directed Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC) to continue with its studies on uranium exploration in the remaining areas of central Jordan, in light of a presentation by JAEC Chairman Khaled Toukan on the results of studies on uranium resources in central Jordan.
The Cabinet also directed the commission to continue with its extraction studies, which will determine the economic feasibility of extracting uranium, and to seek out a strategic partner for mining it in Jordan, provided that the government will have the largest stake in the project.
