AMMAN — The government decided Sunday to increase fuel prices by nearly 5 per cent as of Monday, according to an announcement by Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply Maha Ali, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Under the new price list, one litre of unleaded 90-octane gasoline now costs JD0.655, up by around 4.8 per cent compared to JD0.625 in May.
The price of 95-octane also rose by around 5.6 per cent, with one litre to be sold for JD0.840 instead of JD0.795.
The price of one litre of diesel and kerosene was set at JD0.495 instead of JD0.470 — an increase of around 5.3 per cent, according to Petra.
The cost of a 12.5-kilogramme gas cylinder remained the same, at JD8.
Since the government lifted fuel subsidies in November 2012, a committee meets monthly to adjust prices in a manner that corresponds to changes in oil prices on the international market.
Prices of oil derivatives in the local market are calculated based on international prices of oil, with the addition of other costs such as shipment, handling and taxes on gasoline.
