AMMAN — ICT Minister Muthana Gharaibeh on Saturday said that the government is committed to the exemptions it endorsed in 2016 to the ICT sector, adding that the exemptions will continue without changes.
The minister made the remarks after the ministry received several demands from the Jordan’s Information and Communications Technology Association on the investment incentives and sector exemptions mentioned in the 2018 amendments to the Income Tax Law.
Gharaibeh said that these amendments will not affect exemptions to the ICT sector, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
As for increasing the income tax on the sector by 2 per cent, the minister said that the government “is aware of challenges facing the ICT sector", also referring to the government’s ongoing efforts to stimulate the sector and create more jobs.
