AMMAN — Minister of Government Communications Faisal Shboul on Tuesday said that professional media, which adheres to laws, regulations and the press codes of ethics, is a reliable source for facts and information available to the public, contributing to raising awareness and education, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Shboul met with 41 journalism and media graduates participating in a training programme on enhancing health media, implemented by the Royal Health Awareness Society in cooperation with the Ministry of Government Communications.
The training programme was established due to an urgent need for specialised, reliable media, he said, noting that during the spread of the coronavirus, the circulation of rumours and false news increased.
Journalists require constant training, and investing in training and empowering young media professionals and journalists is an investment in the future of journalism and the media profession, he said.
Over the next two years, the ministry will endeavour to support Jordanian media and expand training of spokespersons for government institutions, he added.
