AMMAN — The government is scheduled to launch the fifth executive package of its comprehensive programme to stimulate the economy and improve services and citizens' living standards on Monday, Minister of State for Media Affairs Amjad Adaileh said on Saturday.

Titled "E-services and digital transformation", the fifth package aims at improving government e-services for both citizens and investors, and will include new mechanisms to be adopted by the Jordan Investment Commission and the Income and Sales Tax Department, in addition to the Jordan Customs Department, to address citizens and investors' unresolved issues, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The government's full programme, a manifestation of His Majesty King Abdullah’s Royal directives, comprises four components: Stimulating the economy and investments, management and financial reform, improving citizens’ livelihoods and enhancing services comprehensively.

The first package, released in October, provided incentives in the real-estate sector for boosting exports and production and introduced measures to improve labour and employment for Jordanians.

The second package lowered taxes on electric cars, removed the vehicle weight tax, reduced and controlled government purchases and included measures to resolve bureaucracy issues.

The third package focused on increasing employee salaries and retiree pensions in the public sector and the military, while the fourth package was designed to improve the livelihoods and well-being of citizens, as well as the quality of services, notably in the education, health and transport sectors.
