AMMAN — A total of 69 news websites have been licensed since the beginning of the year after completing all the necessary conditions related to having a chief editor and professional certificate, among other provisions, the Jordan Media Commission (JMC) announced on Tuesday.
Majd Amad, head of the licensing department at the JMC, said that 45 websites have been blocked since the beginning of 2019, noting that websites whose licenses ended in February have been given a grace period until March 15 to renew their licenses, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
JMC Director General Mohammad Qtaishat had announced earlier that all news websites, as of next year, will have to renew their licenses at one time.
