AMMAN — Jordan, upon directives by His Majesty King Abdullah, has offered several initiatives and Royal benefactions to support Palestinians in the fields of healthcare and serving patients and injured people, Health Minister Feras Al Hawari said on Sunday.
Hawari made the remarks during his participation at the 57th session of the Arab Health Ministers Council that was held in Geneva on the sidelines of the 75th World Health Assembly, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
While discussing the first item at the meeting of Arab health ministers, which was called to speak about the health conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories, Hawari said that these initiatives and benefactions included establishing several field surgical stations in Jenin, Ramallah and field hospitals in Gaza.
The minister said that these stations and hospitals have been treating Palestinians for over two decades, while the Kingdom has received several injured Palestinians to receive treatment at Jordanian hospitals.
He also noted that Jordan, out of its historical Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites, incurs the treatment costs of retirees and employees supervising Awqaf in Jerusalem.
Palestinian Health Minister Mayy Keileh commended Jordan’s efforts to provide treatment to Palestinians at field hospitals.
During the meeting, the Arab ministers discussed the unified speech of the Arab Health Ministers Council that will be delivered during the 75th World Health Assembly.
