AMMAN — The Higher Population Council (HPC) and UNFPA on Saturday reaffirmed their commitment to working with all stakeholders to gain the support to achieve sustainable development and invest in the population opportunity.
In a joint statement issued on the occasion of World Population Day, HPC Secretary General Sawsan Majali said Jordan is a refugee-receiving country, noting that Syrian refugees increased the burdens on the health, education, roads and communication sectors.
UNFPA Jordan Country Director Dan Baker stressed the fund’s commitment to ensuring that women’s rights are at the top, especially during crises and difficult times.
