AMMAN — Agriculture Minister Khaled Hneifat on Tuesday met with director general of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), José Graziano da Silva, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. During the meeting on the sidelines of the FAO’s 40th Conference in Rome, Hneifat and Da Silva discussed cooperation, particularly regarding the organisation’s projects in Jordan through its Amman office.

They also discussed the agricultural sector in the Kingdom and strategies and challenges facing it, especially in light of the Syrian refugee crisis and climate change. The two sides urged the international community to support a response to the Syrian crisis’ impacts on Jordan, as well as the possibility of funding Jordan with $50million from the FAO’s Green Climate Fund to deal with the impacts of climate change.
