AMMAN — A joint parliamentary panel, comprising members from the Lower House legal and administrative committees, on Wednesday organised a brainstorming discussion with representatives of political parties on the draft municipalities and decentralisation laws.
Head of the joint panel MP Khalil Atiyeh highlighted the important role of political parties in improving partisan life in the Kingdom, adding that the committee will also meet with professional associations and other civil society organisations to discuss the two key reform-oriented laws.
Municipal Affairs Minister Walid Masri, who was present at the meeting, said the two bills, despite being given urgency status, will not be endorsed by the House until they are thoroughly discussed with all concerned agencies.
