IEC accepting applications for by-election coverage

AMMAN — The Independent Elections Commission (IEC) on Tuesday will start receiving applications from local and international journalists to cover Irbid’s Second District by-elections slated for November 29.
IEC Commissioner Mohammad Masalha on Sunday said the IEC will accept applications until October 30, adding that applicants may submit their request through the IEC website www.entikhabat.jo.
Masalha noted that interested international journalists must be employed by press institutions accredited to work in the Kingdom.

The Independent Elections Commission (IEC) on Thursday announced that it accepted 15 candidacy applications and rejected four others submitted by candidiates wishing to run in the by-elections for Irbid’s 2nd District to fill the seat left vacant by MP Mohammad Khasawneh, who passed away on September 23.
The Independent Elections Commission (IEC) on Wednesday said that it not recorded any violations concerning the use of political money in the by-election for Irbid’s Second District, adding that it has not received any citizen complaint in this regard, either.
Wednesday is the last day on which candidates in Irbid’s 2nd district by-elections can withdraw from the scheduled by-elections, the Independent Elections Commission announced.
