IEC chairman discusses Accreditation instructions for Election Monitors with supervisory bodies

AMMAN — Chairman of the board of commissioners of the Independent Election Commission (IEC) Musa Maaytah on Monday discussed with local supervisory bodies the accreditation instructions of local monitors in the upcoming elections.  The meeting coincided with the preparations of the upcoming elections to be carried out under the Elections Law of 2022, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.   Maayteh said that the IEC is adopting a participatory approach with all stakeholders, reviewing the previous instructions given the previous experiences and latest amendments to the elections law.  Maaytah noted that training by supervisory bodies is crucial to qualify monitors and issue periodic reports for highlighting shortcomings.  He confirmed that enhancing electoral process monitoring guarantees and fosters confidence among the public during the election process.   Maaytah called on the direct supervisory entities to prepare their respective monitors list to ensure an unbiased professional monitoring of the elections and serve as a reference for integrity and neutrality.
