AMMAN — The Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Sunday launched a campaign to raise public awareness on polling methods for the 2017 local and municipal council elections, slated for August 15. IEC chief Khaled Kalaldeh launched the campaign during a visit to the Madaba election committee, where he checked on work progress and urged its members to present all facilities to voters and candidates to facilitate the elections’ success, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The campaign will be implemented by some 19,000 volunteers across the Kingdom, who will visit public places and acquaint voters with the municipal and decentralisation laws. Speaking to volunteers, Kalaldeh highlighted the importance of the campaign in enhancing people’s participation in the elections and decision making.
