AMMAN — The Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan (Intaj) on Monday invited companies to join a campaign to support the reconstruction and rehabilitation of ICT sector in war-torn Gaza through the "Gaza Fast Recovery Fund".

Intaj said that the fund was launched by the Palestinian Information Technology Association (PITA), which comprise of 180 companies, most of which operate in Gaza.

"The fund aims at intervening once the war ends by renting a building with electricity and Internet connection so that entrepreneurs and companies can return to function," Intaj said in a statement on Monday.

Intaj Board Chairman Eid Sweis said that due to the damage to the human resources and infrastructure in Gaza it is essential to get together and help in the reconstruction process,   according to a statement quoted by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

He added that the fund seeks to provide facilities equipped with electricity, internet and basic equipment that enable companies to be back to business as fast as possible.

The fund will also document the damages and collect data and will then communicate with international bodies to secure immediate assistance, Sweis said.

Israel has for three times cut internet and phone lines in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of its war on the besieged enclave.
