International Labour Standards Conference continues at Dead Sea

AMMAN — The Lower House and International Labour Organisation (ILO) on Thursday continued holding the International Labour Standards Conference at the Dead Sea, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. Dignitaries and representatives of civil institutions as well as labourers participated in the conference. Head of the Lower House’s Labour, Development and Population Committee Hussein Harasees highlighted the need to enhance employment opportunities, prepare policies and reform laws, to promote gender equality in the workplace. Secretary General of the Ministry of Labour Farouq Hadidi stressed the ministry’s role in ensuring the private sector’s commitment to minimum wages. He added that the ministry is keen on promoting a decent work environment for workers by ensuring compliance with international standards.
