Islamist bloc demands expulsion of Israeli ambassador, closure of embassy

By JT - Jul 22,2017 - Last updated at Jul 22,2017

AMMAN — The Lower House’s Islamist Reform Bloc (ILHRB) on Saturday, during its weekly meeting, renewed its demands for the government to expel the Israeli ambassador from Jordan and to close the Israeli embassy in Amman, according to a statement from the bloc.

The ILHRB also demanded that the government take a “stronger and more effective position” in the protection of Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Palestine and defend “our families and brothers” in Jerusalem and Al Aqsa.

The bloc also discussed the agenda for the next session of the Lower House and the new amendments to the Penal Code, while also denouncing the government’s decision to hold the Jerash Festival, claiming it is a “waste of public money in the midst of a hard economic situation” and lacks any “cultural or moral message”.
