AMMAN — Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi, head of the follow-up committee for the implementation of Royal Initiatives, on Saturday inaugurated a number of projects in Balqa Governorate.
The inauguration of these projects was done in fulfilment of His Majesty King Abdullah’s directives. The projects include a semi-Olympic swimming pool at the Prince Hussein Bin Abdullah Sports Complex, a renovation of the Dhiraar Bin Al Azwar complex in Deir Alla and a football field at the Maadi club.
The projects aim to cultivate youth’s athletic abilities and give them a healthy environment to play sports in, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Issawi also checked on the progress of a housing project for impoverished families in Deir Alla, which consists of 400 housing units.
“These projects, implemented through a Royal Initiative, will have a positive impact on the youth who have the King’s care and support,” Issawi stated, adding that the housing project was established by King Abdullah in the Al Malaha region to help impoverished families, Petra reported.
The semi-Olympic swimming pool was built to promote swimming as a sport in Balqa, being the only one in the governorate.
Several youth in the Maadi region of Deir Alla expressed their gratitude for the King’s initiative as it allows them to play sports in an environment where they can hone their skills, according to Petra.
