AMMAN — Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi, head of the follow-up committee for the implementation of Royal Initiatives, on Sunday visited Zarqa Governorate with a ministerial team in implementation of His Majesty King Abdullah’s directives.

King Abdullah visited Zarqa last week, and ordered for the implementation of a package of development projects to serve the governorate’s residents, as well as a follow-up on the demands submitted by governorate’s dignitaries.

During the visit, Issawi listened to the demands and needs of the governorate’s residents, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The demands focused on addressing pollution in the governorate, especially in the phosphate hills, the Zarqa River and in Dhlail, where there is waste from an industrial complex and dairy farms. The talks also covered establishing an industrial city and organising industries in the Wadi Al Ash area.

The demands focused on the need to promote the sectors of health, education, sports, youth, infrastructure, women’s empowerment and investment, to improve economic conditions in the governorate, provide job opportunities and reduce unemployment.
