AMMAN — The Mobile Amputees Support Unit continues its crucial work in the Gaza Strip, fitting prosthetic limbs to patients as part of the Restoring Hope initiative.

The initiative is overseen by the Royal Medical Services in cooperation with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) and several local partners, according to a Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) statement.

The statement said that since its arrival on September 17, the unit has treated numerous patients through two mobile clinics deployed by JAF, adding that a specialised medical team from the national amputation rehabilitation centre has successfully fitted 26 lower limb prostheses and seven upper limb prostheses.

Gaza residents have expressed gratitude for Jordan’s support and the ongoing medical and therapeutic efforts, which have positively impacted the community.

The Restoring Hope initiative employs cutting-edge technology that enables amputees to walk on the same day they receive their prosthetic limbs.

This programme is anticipated to provide “life-changing” assistance to a significant number of amputees in Gaza, the JAF statement added.
