AMMAN — President of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry Fathi Jaghbir on Tuesday said that Jordan's industrial goods have a significant opportunity to access the Algerian market.
Speaking to the Jordan News Agency, Petra, Jaghbir indicated that the leather and textile, medical supplies, chemical, food, agricultural and livestock industries are the main products that can reach the Algerian market.
He called for reactivating a 1997 trade cooperation agreement between Jordan and Algeria, as well as a deal to promote and expand trade between Arab nations.
Additionally, Jaghbir emphasised the need for talks to open a direct maritime transport route between Jordan, Algeria and the other Arab countries in North Africa. The total value of trade between the nations in 2021 was JD141 million, almost 50 per cent of which were Jordanian exports to Algeria.
