January tourist arrivals up 12% from last year

AMMAN — Tourist arrivals to the Kingdom during January went up by 12.1 per cent to reach 478,935 visitors, compared with the same period in 2019, according to the Ministry of Tourism’s monthly report.
Data also revealed that overnight visitors increased to hit 408,488, up by 12.2 per cent, while group tourists rose by 14.6 per cent to reach 35,300, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Thursday.
Gulf countries topped the overnight tourist arrivals at 94,000 visitors, registering an increase of 34.8 per cent, followed by visitors from Africa, totalling 2,000, with an increase of 22.4 per cent. Tourists from European countries totalled 52,743, registering a 13 per cent increase, while tourists from American countries hit 14,815, showing a 13 per cent increase, Petra added.
