January visitors to Petra increase by 41 per cent — PDTRA

AMMAN — Petra saw a 41 per cent rise in January visitors compared with the same period last year, the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) said on Saturday.
Some 48,977 foreign visitors entered Petra, 220km south of Amman, in January compared with 34,617 in December 2018, PDTRA Chief Commissioner Sulaiman Farajat said.
During the last month, Jordanian and Arab visitors amounted to 5,484, compared with 5,843 during the same month of 2018, he said. Farajat added that he expected an increase in the number of visitors for the coming month as well, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
