AMMAN — The Government of Japan has decided to extend a grant of $89,985 to Al Maqased Charity Hospital for the provision of medical equipment under its Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGP) programme, a Japanese embassy statement said on Monday.
A grant contract was signed on Monday by Japanese Ambassador to Jordan Yanagi Hidenao and General Manager of the hospital Ali Al Saad, according to the statement.
The grant assistance aims to improve the quality of medical services at the hospital, situated in east Amman, by providing one ultrasound diagnostic system with an electrocardiogram function and twenty hospital beds, the statement said.
Since its establishment in 2014, Al Maqased Charity Hospital has provided “vital, urgent and indispensable lifesaving medical care services” to patients around the clock at affordable prices, the statement said, adding that, as the hospital receives referrals from other hospitals, International NGOs and Syrian refugee camps, the project will contribute to providing more accurate and speedy diagnoses to patients regardless of their backgrounds.
At the signing ceremony, Yanagi expressed his gratitude to the hospital for its “great contribution” to the community, noting: “I sincerely hope that this new project will support the medical services, including emergency lifesaving, at Al Maqased Charity Hospital, and further contribute to a better future for people in need,” according to the statement.
Under the GGP programme, Japan has extended more than $10 million for 149 projects to non-governmental organisations, schools, hospitals and local governments in Jordan since 1993, the statement concluded.
