AMMAN — A delegation from the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) recently visited the Netherlands to have a first-hand look at the Dutch experience in sustainable agricultural production.
JFDA Director General Nizar Mheidat and Dutch officials discussed the means to accredit Jordanian food products in European markets by enhancing its exports and competitiveness, in order to boost the national economy, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
During a visit to the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority, Mheidat reviewed the experience of the JFDA, as a leading national control body to ensure the safety and the quality of food and to monitor food access through border crossings.
The visit comes under a previously signed agreement between the countries to exchange expertise and improve the level of food inspection.
The Dutch officials praised the JFDA's efforts and endeavours to keep pace with the latest scientific and international developments concerned with food safety and efficiency of medicines, expressing their keenness to sustain support and cooperation through the Kingdom's Foreign Ministry.
The visit's agenda includes holding several meetings and visits to various Dutch ministries and commissions, where the visit is also a continuation of meetings that were held at the Dutch embassy in Amman with Ambassador Harry Verweij and other stakeholders.
