AMMAN — The Foreign Ministry on Wednesday condemned the continued Israeli excavations at the entrance of the Martyrs’ Cemetery in the occupied East Jerusalem.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Deifallah Fayez reiterated the Kingdom’s rejection and denouncement of the Israeli excavation near the wall and stairs of the cemetery, calling for an immediate stop of these acts, according to a ministry statement.

Fayez also warned against continuing these excavations, expanding them or reaching inside the graveyard, calling on Israeli authorities to respect the sanctity of graves and stop provocations.

The spokesperson also stressed the Kingdom’s rejection of unilateral Israeli measures aiming at altering the Arab identity of Jerusalem, describing these measures as a patent violation of international law and UNESCO resolutions.
