AMMAN — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday denounced Israel’s authorisation of the construction of 540 new settlement units in Jabal Abu Ghneim in East Jerusalem, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Daifallah Fayez said that these settlements are considered a violation of international law and United Nations resolutions, mainly the UN Security Council Resolution 2334, Petra reported.
Fayez also stressed that Israel’s one-sided settlement policy, in all its forms, hinders the process of peace-making and conflict resolution, “destroying” any opportunity to materialise the two-state solution.
The spokesperson also urged the international community to bear the responsibility of pressuring Israel into ceasing its violations.
