AMMAN — Georgian Ambassador to Amman Zaza Kandelaki on Tuesday expressed his country’s interest in Jordan’s religious tourism sector.
“We are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Jordan and Georgia,” Kandelaki said in an embassy statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Highlighting the two countries’ “distinguished” relations in various fields, Kandelaki noted that the Jordanian-Georgian tourism is developing.
The number of Jordanian tourists visiting Georgia has been increasing, he said, pointing to efforts underway to restore direct flights both ways, Petra reported.
Kandelaki also underscored the increasing trade volume between the two countries, especially in the fields of agriculture and meat.
He also called for activating the agreements signed between the two countries and holding a Jordanian- Georgian business and economic forum, as a first step to boost economic cooperation, according to the news agency.
Senate President Faisal Fayez recently visited Georgia and met with Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili and senior officials.
During a meeting with the press, the diplomat also highlighted the two countries’ cooperation in countering terrorism noting that a number of meetings would be organised in near future to promote this cooperation.
The Georgian ambassador congratulated the Kingdom on the occasion of the Independence Day, on May 25, commending the country’s achievements and reforms in all fields.
