AMMAN — The Jordan Golf Federation and Ayla Oasis Development Company recently signed a cooperation agreement aimed at expanding and introducing different groups, including women and youth, to golf and encouraging them to practise and participate in local, regional, and international tournaments.
The objectives of the agreement are to support the formation of national teams of all categories to compete at regional levels in the coming years, according to a statement from Ayla Oasis Development Company.
The agreement also seeks to improve the infrastructure of golfing facilities and to develop the skills of local coaches and referees, in addition to hosting important international golf tournaments and events, the statement said.
It also seeks to strengthen the junior golf league to represent Jordan at the regional level, following in the footsteps of the Jordan Open Golf Championships, which gained international classification, read the statement.
Ayla’s Managing Director Sahl Dudin and Jordan Golf Federation President Nidal Al Majali signed the agreement.
Dudin said: “Today, through this agreement, we continue to work hand in hand with the federation, aiming to grow and develop golf in the Jordanian community by encouraging both genders to practise this beneficial sport that is characterised by its competitiveness," Dudin said.
Majali commended Ayla’s efforts in promoting and expanding golf’s growth locally, noting that Ayla is "the first and only company" that has worked to provide global-calibre infrastructure for this sport at the local level.
The Ayla golf club is designed to meet the needs of professional and amateur golfers alike and is home to a specialised golf academy which offers private and group lessons delivered by qualified instructors for all ages and levels of experience, the statement said.
