AMMAN — Secretary-General of the Ministry of Government Communication Zaid Nawaiseh announced on Wednesday the Jordan Forum for Media and Digital Communication recommendations in its first edition.

Nawaiseh said that the speakers and participants in the forum emphasised the importance of using specialised and advanced digitisation in media outlets while preserving the importance of the Arabic language in light of the spread of colloquial language on social media platforms, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

They also recommended paying attention to artificial intelligence and the importance of dealing with its mechanisms at the Arab level.

The participants emphasised the need to focus on the bias of social media towards Israeli narratives in the war on Gaza and the neglect of the Palestinian issue.

They called for the necessity of reviewing media colleges' curricula to enhance the students' digital and technical skills.

During the announcement of the recommendations, Nawaiseh affirmed that the forum is one of the ministry's steps in implementing the general policy of the ministry, which has laid down the general frameworks for updating the Jordanian media.

He also pointed out that the forum came on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee of His Majesty's accession to the throne, and coinciding with the 78 anniversary of Independence Day.

Nawaiseh noted that the media in Jordan has made great strides in developing and updating its tools towards digital transformation, hoping that the forum would be an addition to the updating and development of Arab media work.

The two-day forum, which concluded on Wednesday in Amman, discussed various topics, with more than 35 local, Arab, and international speakers participating in eight sessions, focusing on the use of specialised and advanced digitisation in media outlets, such as podcast programs.
