AMMAN — Sales of a unified ticket designated for tourist areas in Jordan (Jordan Pass) have increased during the first two months of this year, with approximately 60,000 tickets sold, compared with 37,235 sold during the same period in 2019, according to official figures from the Tourism Ministry.
The tourism sector experienced “a golden year” in 2019, making this increase particularly noteworthy.
The total value of Jordan Pass sales reached JD4,374,240 in 2022, with each ticket priced at $99, marking a notable increase from 2019, where the total value was approximately JD2,706,910.
The unified ticket system, launched by the ministry at the end of 2015, aims to enhance the tourism sector's performance, promote tourism revenue and encourage visitors to explore a range of archaeological and tourist sites.
The system serves as a promotional tool for 40 archaeological and tourist sites, including the city of Petra, by providing access to all sites and dispensing information regarding dates and places worth visiting.
The ticket holder is exempt from entry visa fees on the condition that they stay in the Kingdom for three consecutive nights or more, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
