AMMAN — The Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO), in partnership with the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF), on Wednesday began delivering humanitarian aid to Syria and Turkey to help those affected by the earthquake that hit large areas in both countries, in line with Royal directives.
Jordan, on Tuesday and Wednesday, sent five humanitarian aid planes to Syria and Turkey, loaded with rescue equipment, tents, logistical and medical supplies and food. The planes also carried Jordanian rescuers from the international search and rescue team and doctors from the Royal Medical Services.
A plane carrying food, medical supplies and other necessities was dispatched to the Syrian city of Latakia on Wednesday, according to a JHCO statement cited by Al Mamlaka TV.
According to an Al Mamlaka TV report from Marka military airport, the first aid plane will head to Syria carrying 12 tonnes of food, logistical and medical supplies and tents. Another plane will fly to Adana airport in Turkey, carrying food, medical supplies and tents.
The organisation will start running land convoys to all affected areas in Syria in the coming days.
JHCO will also send a second aircraft to other affected areas in Syria, in addition to sending another aircraft to Turkey carrying relief and food assistance, the statement said.
