Jordan signs cooperation deals with Malta, Lithuania

AMMAN — Jordan on Sunday signed cooperation agreements with Malta and Lithuania to increase consultation and coordination.
Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh and his Maltese counterpart George W. Vella signed three cooperation agreements on political consultations and cooperation in several fields.
Judeh also signed two agreements on bilateral consultations and diplomatic cooperation with his Lithuanian counterpart Linas Linkevicius.
During separate meetings with the two diplomats, discussions addressed bilateral ties and the latest regional developments.
Judeh and Vella stressed the importance of combining all efforts to combat terrorism and reviewed efforts to bring back the Palestinians and the Israelis to the negotiating table.
They also discussed the developments in Syria and the need to arrive at a political solution that safeguards its security, stability and territorial integrity.
Describing Jordan as the voice of moderation in the region, Vella stressed his country’s and the EU's support for the Kingdom in its efforts to achieve regional security and stability.
Judeh and Linkevicius discussed the ongoing cooperation between their countries, especially through their membership in the UN Security Council.
Addressing the developments in Syria and Iraq, Judeh reiterated Jordan’s position which calls for a political solution to these crises.
Also on Sunday, Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh met with Linkevicius and discussed issues of mutual interest, especially the conditions in Gaza, fighting terrorism and the recent Israeli violations against Palestinian people and holy sites.
