AMMAN — Jordan on Tuesday condemned the Israeli assaults on worshippers at Al Aqsa Mosque/Al Haram Al Sharif , calling on Israeli occupation authorities to respect the sanctity of the place and the freedom and safety of worshippers.

In a statement on Tuesday, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Deifallah Fayez voiced the Kingdom’s utter rejection of the Israeli assaults on worshippers, noting that Israel’s actions are a violation of its obligations as the occupying force in accordance with international law.

Fayez also denounced the Israeli occupation authorities' installation of wooden and metal pillars near the Southern Wall of the Aqsa Mosque, calling on Israel to immediately remove them, according to a ministry statement.

He stressed that the Jerusalem Awqaf Department is the sole authority responsible for administrating all the Aqsa Mosque’s affairs as stipulated in the international law, including maintenance and renovation works

Fayez warned of the repercussions of the continuous Israeli violations against Al Haram Al Sharif and worshippers, demanding an end to the occupation force’s illegal actions and respect for the historical and legal status quo.
