AMMAN — Jordan on Wednesday denounced the ongoing Israeli government's plans of building settlements, the latest of which was endorsed by Israeli authorities earlier in the day to build some 3,500 new settler units in the occupied West Bank.
The Foreign Ministry decried settlement expansion plans as aiming to change the historical and legal status quo on the occupied Palestinian territories, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Sufian Qudah voiced the Kingdom's "utter condemnation of the illegitimate and illegal unilateral Israeli procedures that violate all rules of the international law and UN Security Council resolutions, mainly Resolution 2334, and undermine all opportunities to realise peace and establish a sovereign Palestinian state on the pre-1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Qudah renewed calls on the international community to shoulder its responsibility to stop the ongoing Israeli breaches of international law and provide international protection for the Palestinian people.
