AMMAN — A total of 300 Japanese companies, along with the Jordan Investment Commission (JIC), attended the online Jordan Symposium for Investment and Business.

The event was organised by the Kingdom’s embassy in Japan, in cooperation with UNIDO’s Investment and Technology Promotion Office, Tokyo (UNIDO ITPO Tokyo) and the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), according to a JIC statement.

The event witnessed the participation of Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Ahmad Hanandeh, JIC President Khalid Wazani, and Jordanian Ambassador to Japan Lina Annab.

Addressing the virtual meeting, Hanandeh voiced the Kingdom’s keenness to enhance Jordanian-Japanese economic relations and furthering investments, notably in the field of ICT.

Jordan is a state of institutions that is capable of dealing with any emergency, Wazani said, adding that “the Kingdom is a safe haven for investment”.

He cited positive indicators of investment attractiveness, notably the Kingdom’s ranking on the World Bank’s 2020 Doing Business report, in which Jordan has been selected among the top three business climate improvers and ranked 10th in terms of implementing reforms.

Head of UNIDO ITPO Tokyo Yuko Yasunaga expressed the organisation’s readiness to cooperate with the JIC and stakeholders’ efforts towards promoting investment opportunities in Jordan, as well as to improve the Kingdom’s business environment and development projects.
