AMMAN — As part of efforts provided by the Jordanian Field Hospital Gaza-78, to offer medical and humanitarian care to the people in the Gaza Strip, the hospital's staff performed a surgical operation on Saturday to fix an open fracture in the lower femur (Distal femur FX ORIF).

The hospital commander said that the operation was carried out by a specialised medical team of orthopaedics, joint surgeons, and anaesthesiologists from the staff of the Jordanian Field Hospital Gaza-78, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

He also added that the hospital dealt with 5,064 cases this month, including 31 major surgeries, four minor surgeries, and one childbirth case.

An orthopaedic and joint surgeon at the hospital pointed out that the patient had an open fracture in the lower right femur, which led to bone fragmentation and damage to the surrounding tissues due to the injury he sustained.

A surgical operation was performed to install a metal plate and screws, and the external fixator was removed at the Jordanian Field Hospital, as it is the only hospital still operating in the northern sector, the surgeon added.

The patient's family expressed their deep gratitude and appreciation to His Majesty King Abdullah, praising the significant efforts made by the staff of the Jordanian Field Hospital in alleviating the effects of the war in the besieged strip.

Since the beginning of its mission in Gaza, the medical staff at the Jordanian Field Hospital has provided treatment to 3,475,393 cases from the people of the Gaza Strip.

Jordan runs two military field hospitals in Gaza, the first was established in northern Gaza in 2009 following the Hamas-Israel war in 2008 and the second facility was set up in November last year in Khan Yunis in the strip's south.
