Jordan’s trade balance deficit with EU up by 23.4% in H1 2021— DoS

AMMAN — The Kingdom’s trade balance deficit with EU countries in the first half of 2021 increased by 23.4 per cent to stand at JD1.294 billion, compared with the same period last year, which totalled JD1.048 billion, the Department of Statistics (DoS) announced on Saturday.

According to the DoS monthly report, the value of national exports to the EU increased in the January-June period of 2021 by 35.6 per cent to some JD96 million, compared with JD71 million in the same period of 2020, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The report also showed an increase in the value of imports from the EU in the January-June period of 2021 by 24.3 per cent to JD1.390 billion, compared with JD1.119 billion in the same period last year.

The DoS data showed that the Netherlands was the top importer of Jordanian products in the first six months of 2021 amounting to some JD20 million, while Germany was the top exporter to Jordan with JD279 million.
