Journalism professors trained to meet emerging sector needs

AMMAN — UNESCO Amman Office on Thursday announced the commencement of a two-week training-of-trainers programme run by CFI, the French government’s media cooperation agency, targeting journalism professors at the Middle East University and Yarmouk University.

The training falls under the framework of the EU-funded “Support to Media in Jordan” project implemented by UNESCO in Amman, which was organised in light of CFI recommendation to improve both universities’ curricula to better meet international standards and the emerging needs of the Jordanian media industry, a UNESCO statement said.

The recommendations included holding mandatory courses on online journalism, a course on ethics and legislation, investigative journalism, and interview skills for radio and TV.
