JPMC voices readiness to increase exports to Brazil

AMMAN — Chairman of the Jordan Phosphate Mining Company (JPMC) Mohammed Thneibat and Brazilian Minister of Agriculture Marcos Montes discussed means to increase cooperation between the two countries regarding providing the Brazilian market with its increasing needs of various phosphate fertilisers and raw phosphate.
During a visit by the Brazilian minister to the JPMC, Thneibat expressed the company's readiness to increase its exports to Brazil to contribute to the success of the national fertilisers plan in the South American country, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The chairman said that both sides agreed to organise a visit for a specialised team from Brazil to the company in the near future to prepare a formula for cooperation until reaching fruitful partnerships on the ground.
He also voiced JPMC's readiness for more openness to the Brazilian market and meeting its increasing needs of phosphate and phosphate fertilisers, in addition to establishing joint industries between the two countries.
Montes expressed his country's keenness to enhance cooperation with the company in the field of importing Jordanian phosphate, praising the role and reputation of the JPMC in the international phosphate market and its big potential.
He said that the visit aims at discussing means to increase the supplies of phosphate fertilisers in the Brazilian market whose annual needs stand at over 40 million tonnes.
The minister also stressed that the Kingdom has a large reserve of high-quality phosphate, which has become among basic requirements to realise food security at the national and international levels.
